Biochar

About Biochar

Biochar is a charcoal-like product that is produced by a thermal-heat process (pyrolysis) of biomass, in the absence of oxygen. Biochar is a stable solid compound that is rich in carbon and can sequester carbon for hundreds of years.

Market Overview

Biochar Production Facilities are far from being on track to meet the demand in Brazil and far from integrate new technologies to create a new green economy.

Biochar: the ‘black gold’ for soils that is getting big bets on offset markets. The global market 2021 biochar market $1,8 billion, with annual growth of 13.2%, to reach annual revenues of $3.1 billion by 2025.

Reduction of GHG Emissions

1 ton of biochar stores ~3.1 tonnes of CO2

Competitive Advantage

  • Promote an innovative green business model related to decentralized biochar production using modular pyrolysis kilns in small towns in Brazil from sustainable resources such as waste biomass from rice rusks, coffee beans waste and coconut shells.
  • Strategic locations. Fast payback (4 years).
